How to Decide on Your Australia Travel Itinerary

The challenge with formulating an Australia travel itinerary is trying to experience a number of far flung places here all within a limited time.  Australia is the world’s largest island.  It’s enormous!  Most Aussies live in cities and even they find deciding on a travel itinerary for their vacations difficult.  So if you can’t see everything in one visit at least see the best.  Here are our favorite attractions as they appear in two different packages.

10 Day Itinerary

Twin share accommodation with private bathrooms
Guided tour to Blue Mountains out of Sydney
Camel Sunrise tour Ayers Rock
Guided day tour Kings Canyon out of Alice Springs
Great Barrier Reef snorkeling cruise
Guided day tour to the spectacular Daintree forest
Cost per person US$1728 per person

This Australia travel itinerary provides access to some of its most popular attractions.

It could be combined with an extended stay in Sydney on your return there or even a flight to Melbourne to spend more time in this beautiful city with its retail and restaurant scene.  Even if you are limited by time, with an itinerary like this you will have experienced some remarkable places that some Aussies struggle to get to.

14 Day Itinerary

Twin share accommodation with private bathrooms
Rental car Melbourne to Adelaide
The Ghan train from Adelaide to Alice Springs
Kangaroo Island day tour
Guided day tour Kings Canyon
Great Barrier Reef snorkeling cruise
Guided day tour to the spectacular Daintree forest
Cost US$3322 per person
Flights from Alice Springs to Cairns and Cairns to Sydney not included but an additional costs of around US$630 per person.

We like the flexibility and diversity of this Australia travel itinerary.  It offers a range of experiences, including time in Australia’s two best known cities, travel in the Outback, the incredible Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree National Park.  These are some of our favorite places in Australia and visiting them would provide an insight into life in some very different parts of Australia.

You can plan a similar Australia travel itinerary of your own and add or delete experiences based on time, distance, cost and interest but we were pleasantly surprised at the diversity, flexibility and value that these offer.
